Ever wished you could control your Gree air conditioner from your phone—even when you’re not home? Good news: You can! With the Gree+ app and a WiFi-enabled Gree AC, you’ll be switching modes, setting timers, and adjusting temperatures without even touching the remote. Let’s break it down step by step.
Step 1: Download the Gree+ App
First things first, grab your phone and head over to the app store. If you’re on Android, search for “Gree+” in the Google Play Store. If you’re on iPhone, find it in the Apple App Store. Download and install—it’s free and lightweight.
Step 2: Turn On WiFi Mode on Your AC
Now, turn on your Gree air conditioner using the remote, and stand as close to the indoor unit as possible.
To activate WiFi mode:
- Press and hold the WiFi button on your remote for about 10 seconds.
- You’ll hear two beeps, and the WiFi icon will show up on the display.
No WiFi button on your remote? No worries.
- Press and hold Mode and Turbo together for 10 seconds.
- Again, wait for the double beep and the WiFi symbol.
Step 3: Sign Up on the Gree+ App
Once WiFi mode is on, open the Gree+ app.
Tap Sign Up, create your username and password, and log in.
Step 4: Add Your WIFI network and AC to Gree+ App
- Tap the “+” icon on the home screen.
- Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network (not 5GHz).
- Select your home or office Wifi network
- Enter your WiFi password and tap “Search for Device.” (Avoid special characters, use letters and symbols a-z, 123..)
- The app will look for your AC and register it automatically. You’ll see your AC listed—something like “AC5bcf.”
Can’t Connect? Try This:
If it’s not working, here are a few things to check:
- Is your AC model actually WiFi-enabled?
- Are you connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network? ( common 5ghz not supported )
- Is your mobile data turned off during setup? (use wifi instead of mobile data)
Still not working? It might be your router settings.
- On a laptop, go to your router’s admin page (you’ll usually find the ip address on the back of the router e.g. http://192.168.8.1/ ).
- Login using the default credentials.
- In Wireless Settings, make sure:
- Encryption/Security mode is set to WPA2
- Channel width/Bandwidth is set to 20MHz
- Wireless/network mode is set to 802.11g
Save settings, restart the router, and try again.
As a last resort, look for a WiFi network being broadcast by the AC itself and try connecting directly using a default password like 12345678.
That’s It!
Once everything’s connected, you can control your AC remotely—turn it on or off, change modes, set timers, and adjust temperatures with just a few taps.
